SMC Update Version 2.0 for MacBook Air Fixes Battery Issues

Apple has issued a SMC Update Version 2.0 for all models of the mid-2013 MacBook Air. The update fixes battery problems that may cause the ultralight laptop’s battery to drain faster when the lid is closed.

The update can be downloaded here, or in the Mac App Store.

After installing the SMC update, my MacBook Air 13″ battery went from 100% to 90% within 50 minutes after a full charge and only Safari running with 3 normal content tabs open (no flash or other plugin running). Before the update, my MacBook Air 13″, which originally had SMC 2.13f7, used to give more than 14.5 hours of runtime on a single charge with Safari, AirMail and Console running all the time. Now it seems it won’t even last 5 hours. 🙁

Is there any way to go back to SMC 2.13f7 again?

Thanks, Chris! I just installed the EFI update and my MacBook Air is back to the original state!! I’m very happy now. Yesterday’s SMC update almost gave me a heart attack but today’s update brings such a relief. I’ve running Safari for the last 30 minutes and now my battery status shows 19:28 remaining which is roughly what it used to show before yesterday’s update.
