Even as the fall debut of iOS 8 is just a few months away, Apple’s iOS 7 mobile operating system continues to see a growing adoption rate. As of Sunday, 90% of all devices connected to the App Store are running iOS 7. The new numbers come from Apple’s App Store Developer Support Page.
MacRumors notes that the new milestone is a 3% increase from the iOS 7 installation numbers of 87% back in April.
As you might expect, while iOS 7 continues on the upward trend, iOS 6 installation rates have dropped, albeit only slightly, falling from 11% in April, down to 9% in July. Earlier versions of the mobile OS accounted for a mere 2% of all devices.
Apple’s mobile operating system usually see quick adoption rates, due to the uniformity of the device lineup, and the company’s easy over-the-air update method for OS updates. iOS 7 was on 74% of devices a mere three months after its debut.
