Seinfeld Emoji on The iPhone? – I’m Speechless. I Have No Speech

“Hello, Newman!” Very soon your iPhone using man-hands may be able to send a text message about nothing using emojis based on the popular ’90s sitcom “Seinfeld.”

Mashable:

A free iOS app called Seinfeld Emoji has been submitted to the Apple App Store (and is awaiting approval). Potential emoji include everything from Jerry wearing Google Glass to other series-related objects like the marble rye and puffy shirt.

Jason Richards, the man behind the @seinfeld2000 Twitter account, came up with the idea. He then drafted designer Kevin McCauley to join the cause by drawing five or so Seinfeld emojis, but being that McCauley was huge Seinfeld fan, he couldn’t leave it at five, oh no my friend! McCauley came back with around 20 of the characters, all based on his favorite jokes and characters from the series.

The final piece of the puzzle, Shahruz Shaukat, connected with the pair and began development of the app a few weeks ago.

“It’s a real thing that people will actually be able to use,” Shaukat told Mashable. “It will let people use these on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Messages, Mail and so on.”

The emoji names have been purposefully varied a bit from those used in the series, to distance it some from the official Seinfeld franchise.

If demand proves high on iOS devices, the crew says they’ll consider making the app for Android users too.
