Planned Apple Store in United Arab Emirates Could be World’s Largest

Apple’s planned retail store in the United Arab Emirates could be the company’s largest retail location built to date, claims a new report from Middle East lifestyle website EDGARDaily.com. Apple began posting job openings last week for a future store in the UAE.

EDGARDaily, via MacRumors:

Our undisclosed source said that the store – which will be the biggest Apple has ever built – was originally planned to replace the current cinema complex. The timing of the recent job adverts suggest the store could have a planned opening for the first quarter of 2015.

The Mall of the Emirates, located in Dubai, opened in September 2005, boasts 700 stores, and comes in at over 2.4 million square feet. The mall also includes two 5-Star hotels, and the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East.

Apple CEO Tim Cook was spotted visiting the country in February, posing for photos at Apple resellers and meeting with UAE Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Based on Apple’s usual retail store hiring patterns, we could expect the Mall of the Emirates Apple Store to open around February 2015.
