iWatch Focus? – Apple Invites Fashion Media to Sept. 9 Event

AppleInsider:

Writers from top fashion publications have been invited to Apple’s Tuesday event “in unprecedented numbers,” according to Reuters, which listed Marie Claire and Fashionista among first-time invitees. Apple has reached out to the fashion industry in the past, but the company typically holds a specific, separate event in New York after products have been unveiled.

Apple has been indicating that it will be focusing on fashion with future products, as they have been on a fashion-forward hiring spree lately, hiring Paul Deneve, former CEO, of French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent, and Patrick Pruniaux, former head of sales for Tag Heuer.

Apple also drafted former Burberry fashion CEO Angela Ahrendts to run its retail operations.

Apple’s much-rumored “iWatch,” expected to be introduced at Tuesday’s event, is anticipated to be one part gadget, one part fashion accessory. It is also expected to be available in sizes for both men and women.

Apple’s event at the Flint Center in Cupertino, CA, will kick off Tuesday, September 9th at 10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern Time. The company is expected to debut its next-generation iPhone(s) at the event, and will also likely show of its wearable device, the “iWatch.” As usual, MacTrast will be covering the event as it happens. Be there, or be square.
