Report: 5.5-inch iPhone 6 to Launch Alongside 4.7-in Model on Sept. 19th

If you’re planning on holding out for the “iPhone 6 Plus,” a new report claims you may not have to wait long, as it claims the 5.5-inch “Plus” model of the iPhone 6 will launch alongside the 4.7-inch version on September 19th. You might have to move quick though, as quantities may be limited.

AppleInsider:

The alleged launch date for both anticipated “iPhone 6” models was reported on Monday byiGen.fr, which has accurately revealed product release dates in the past. The Sept. 19 date is no surprise, as Apple has historically made its new iPhones available two Fridays after they are announced, but recent reports had suggested the larger 5.5-inch model might lag behind the 4.7-inch version.

However, Monday’s report says that won’t be the case, and the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 will be available on the September 19th launch date. Quantities of the “plus-sized” device could be limited however, so be prepared to sit up until 3AM Easter Time on the 19th to order yours online.

The report also notes that the 4.7-inch “iPhone 6” is identified as model N61, while the jumbo-sized 5.5-inch model has an internal model number of N56.

A report earlier on Monday claimed the next-generation handset will be known as the “iPhone 6” in its 4.7-inch configuration, and the 5.5-inch model will carry the “iPhone 6 Plus” name.

We’ll know for sure tomorrow just how real this rumor is, as Apple’s event at the Flint Center in Cupertino, CA, will kick off Tuesday at 10AM Pacific, 1PM Eastern Time.

The company is expected to debut its next-generation iPhone(s) at the event, and will also likely show off its wearable device, the “iWatch.” As usual, MacTrast will be covering the event as it happens. Join us, won’t you?
