Report: Apple Shooting for March Apple Watch Release, Retail Training Begins in February

A new report from 9to5Mac says Apple is indeed on track to release the Apple Watch in the United States by the end of March, with training for retail store employees kicking off in February.

9to5Mac:

Several sources tell us that Apple is planning an extensive testing program to familiarize Apple Retail Store employees with the new product category. One or two representatives from many Apple Stores in the United States, depending on store and market size, will be sent to Apple offices in either Cupertino, California or Austin, Texas to learn first-hand about the Watch. These training programs will take place between February 9th and February 16th.

The employees would then return to their respective retail stores to train other employees.

Apple has reportedly been working to polish the watch’s operating system, and improve the device’s battery life, as well as the charging mechanism used to charge the battery.

A March release date would jibe with previous reports about the new wearable device’s release timeframe. Apple previously said the device would ship “in early 2015,” and company SVP of Retail Angela Ahrendts told employees back in November the launch will occur in the Spring, following Chinese New Year.
