NBC App for iOS Updated – Offers Live Streaming & Classic Shows

Television network NBC has announced an update to its iOS and Android viewing apps. The update brings live streaming of the network to areas of the country served by a network owned affiliate, as well as a small catalog of “classic” series episodes.

Live streaming in the app will be available only in areas that are served by a network owned local station, which means a large number of users across the U.S. will be unable to access that functionality. That requirement is in addition to the usual cable or satellite provider subscription account needed to access normal streaming capabilities.

In addition to the live streaming capabilities, the updated app also offers streaming of a small library of episodes of “classic” television series, currently consisting of: Airwolf, Knight Rider, Kojak, The A-Team, Miami Vice, Major Dad, and The Incredible Hulk. The classic episodes do not require a satellite or cable subscription to view, so any user of the app will have access to the classic library.

The NBC app is available FREE for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
