Apple Seeds Seventh Beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 to Devs and Public Testers

Apple is moving fast and furious when it comes to releasing beta seeds of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, as the company has seeded the seventh beta of the Mac operating system a mere three days after the sixth beta release.

The new beta, build 14D130a, is available to developers via the “Update” tab in the Mac App Store, and via download from the Mac Developer Center. Public Beta Testers should find the new seed under the “Update” tab in the Mac App Store.

Apple has added Safari and Mail as focus areas for testing, in addition to the previous Wi-Fi, screen sharing, and Arabic/Hebrew system languages. Known issues have been whittled down to just one, missing thumbnails when using Time Machine to restore a Photos library upgraded from Aperture.

OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 includes several new features, including the new Photos for OS X app, which will integrate with the iCloud Photo Library and the Photos app in iOS. The new Photos app is designed to replace both iPhoto and Aperture.

Also introduced in OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 are a redesigned emoji picker, more diverse emoji, and skin tone modifiers, as well as emoji for the iPhone, Mac, and Apple Watch. Google 2-step verification support is also included.

Due to the stepped up frequency of the beta seed releases, and the lack of outstanding known issues, we can probably expect Apple to release the final version of OS X 10.10.3 in the near future.
