Google apps almost always find a home on Apple’s mobile devices, so why should the Apple Watch be any different? Google on Tuesday added Apple Watch compatibility to its Google News & Weather app. Google is expected to update many of its apps to offer support for the Watch.
The aptly named Google News & Weather app brings aggregated news and local climate reports to iPhone and iPad, but for Watch appears limited to the latest headlines.
Users can login with their Google account, or use the app in guest mode. The app’s Apple Watch features display a list of the top ten headlines as displayed on the iPhone. Categories displayed are pulled form the user’s personalized categories. Small thumbnails accompany most stories.
News & Weather omits things like article summaries, snippets, and full text access. Watch Glances are supported, however AppleInsider notes this is limited to only a single top story.
Force Touch is supported in the app, with a hard press allowing users to add articles to their Safari Reading List for later viewing.
Google News & Weather is available FREE for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store. [DIRECT LINK]
