Apple has added signage to its upcoming retail store location in the Upper East Side of Manhattan, confirming June 13 as the grand opening date for the store.
The new store will be located at 940 Madison Avenue, on the corner of 74th Street, and remains under construction ahead of opening. The new store will be Apple’s seventh retail location in New York City alongside Fifth Avenue, Grand Central, SoHo, Upper West Side, West 14th Street and Staten Island stores.
The store will occupy a former bank building built in 1921. The 5,000 square foot retail space most recently housed a location of luxury retailer VBH. Apple leased the building nearly one year ago.
Apple has also updated the retail store list on its website with information about the new Upper East Side location. Store hours are listed as 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Eastern on Monday through Saturday and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM Eastern on Sunday, likely to dampen the opposition from some nearby residents who have voiced concerns the store will attract large, unruly crowds during product rollouts, who might even camp out and have barbecues right there on the street!
