Apple and Samsung Tied for Smartphone Satisfaction Crown

Although Apple and Samsung are in a photo finish when it comes to overall customer smartphone satisfaction, the iPhone lags a bit behind the South Korean giant’s Galaxy Note 4 handset.

AppleInsider:

Apple and Samsung both received overall customer satisfaction scores of 80 in the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s annual Telecommunications and Information Report. Samsung is trending downward — losing 1 percent year-over-year — while Apple added 1 percent in the same time frame.

Motorola, Blackberry, and HTC filled out the remaining spots in the top five, with 79, 78, and 77 satisfaction ratings respectively.

When quizzed about individual handsets, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners reported the largest satisfaction rating, with a score of 86. Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus tied for second place with the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5, each tallying a score of 82.

The iPhone 5 continues to rate high, outpacing its younger siblings, the iPhone 5 c and iPhone 5s, with a satisfaction score of 80, compared to 77 for the 5c, and 78 for the 5s.

The data in the ACSI report is based on interviews with over 14,000 randomly-chosen consumers, taken during January and February 2015.
