Photos of a new series of parts, allegedly destined for Apple’s upcoming “iPhone 6s,” show updated internal components, while indicating the outward design of the device will remain basically unchanged.

AppleInsider:

One of these is a unified flex cable connecting internal components like the rear camera, LED flash, and power and volume controls to the logic board, according to French site Nowhereelse. In the iPhone 6, Apple depends on two separate cables to achieve the same connections.

Other photos indicate the new iPhone will retain the protruding exterior ring on its rear-facing camera, which many have criticized, due to preventing the device from laying completely flat. Apple also appears to be sticking with the same components for the Home/Touch ID button.

Apple’s “iPhone 6s,” and “iPhone 6s Plus” handsets are expected to be announced this fall, and will boast an improved A9 processor with 2GB RAM, and much improved cameras on both front and back. Rumors indicate the new handsets will be made of tougher 7000-series aluminum, and may offer a “rose gold” color option.
