Kuo: ‘iPhone 7’ to be as Thin as iPod touch

We have still yet to see the unveiling of the “iPhone 6s,” however that doesn’t mean we can share some “iPhone 7” rumors, right?

9to5Mac:

KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is already looking forward to the iPhone after the iPhone 6S, which would be named ‘iPhone 7’ if Apple followed previous year trends. In the tock year, Apple has typically changed the way the iPhone looks externally and apparently 2016 will be no different. The report says the next iPhone will approach iPod touch levels of thinness, with a body between 6 and 6.5mm. For comparison, the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are 6.9 and 7.1mm respectively.

Kuo also says the “iPhone 7” will use the same Force Touch technology that is expected to debut on the “iPhone 6s” on Wednesday, noting that Apple suppliers have invested heavily in the feature.

Kuo also suggests that Apple will stand pat with in-cell panels, and won’t move to glass screen tech suggested by other rumors. Kuo also doesn’t see a 4K display making a debut on the iPhone any time soon. In-Cell technology sports a thinner profile than other options, although it does have limitations on its screen resolution.

While you mull over this set of rumors, be sure to come back to MacTrast on Wednesday, September 9th, as we’ll provide full coverage of Apple’s big media event, where they are expected to debut new iPhones, an improved Apple TV, and perhaps the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, as well as an iPad mini 4.
