Apple Says Battery Life Difference Between TSMC and Samsung A9 Chips is 2-3%

Apple on Thursday issued a statement saying the difference in battery life in the A9 chips supplied by TSMC and Samsung for use in the iPhone 6s is a mere 2-3%.

While various test and reports published on the web show a difference of as much as two hours in the difference between chips manufactured by the two suppliers, an Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch that the difference is small.

Accounts on the web have pointed to TSMC-based iPhones lasting longer on battery power than Samsung-powered devices.

Apple uses both companies to supply the A9 used in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, likely to have enough supply in case of production problems at one supplier.
