Report: Apple Pay to Launch in Canada Late October/Early November

Canadians could see a late October/early November launch of Apple Pay in their country, says a new report on Thursday. iPhone in Canada, quoting trusted sources familiar with the matter, says the launch is on the way.

iPhone in Canada:

Numerous payment processor companies have already started to advertise their point-of-sale terminals will be compatible with Apple Pay. Currently contactless payments under $100 are accepted but transactions over this threshold are currently being worked on, with one payment processor set to meet with Apple in early October.

The site’s sources say a soft launch of Apple Pay will take place at Apple retail stores, and select restaurant chains, once the mobile payments system goes live in the Great White North. That could be the end of October, sources say.

Of course, all of this is still rumor, and the timeline could change, so Canadians should take this rumor with a grain of the same seasoning they use on their poutine.

This is Poutine.
