Apple Reportedly Searching for More Manufacturing Help for the Apple Watch 2

The Apple Watch 2 hasn’t been announced yet, but that shouldn’t keep us from floating rumors about it, right? So here.. we… go! A new report claims Apple is searching for an additional supplier to help manufacture the Apple Watch 2.

MacRumors:

The company is speaking with Inventec, Wistron and Foxconn Electronics to join Quanta Computer in the manufacturing of the next generation of the Apple Watch. The report cites a “weaker than expected” profit return for Quanta in regards to the first generation Apple Watch, which is causing a few of the targeted manufacturers to voice concern about supporting the long-term investment in the future device.

Digitimes reports that while Quanta has made a large investment in equipment for the Apple Watch’s manufacturing, its return on investment has been weaker than expected.

The report also mentions Apple is ordering “only” 4 million Apple Watches for the fourth quarter, down slightly from the 6 million planned, since demand is “not as strong as expected.” However, the company does expect sales for Apple’s wearable to surpass 10 million units for the year.

Previous rumors have placed the launch of the Apple Watch 2 sometime late in Q2 2016, with high volume shipments beginning in Q3. Other rumors claim the second-generation Apple Watch will feature a video camera, a new Wi-Fi system to give the Watch greater iPhone independence, and will offer new $1,000+ premium models. The battery, oddly enough, will remain the same.

As is usual for report such as this, they should be taken with a grain of your favorite seasoning. Today we’re promoting Lawry’s Garlic Salt for the task. It’s coarsely ground, and it has a bit of parsley in it. It’s quite delightful, really.
