Ticker for the Apple TV – Your Personal News Channel

Indie developer, Arno Appenzelle has released Ticker, which is billed as your personal news channel for the Apple TV. Ticker allows users to setup a personalized news feed, which runs in a news ticker view, similar to those shown on such news channels as FOX and CNN, while displaying a number of stunning backgrounds.

Users can simply search for a news feed, (such as… oh… let me think of one… “MacTrast”), and the app will display the most recent news items from the site’s feed. Ticker lets you search for keywords or name of page to find the exactly the feed you want to see. If your favorite website has a news feed, it will likely be compatible with Ticker.

Ticker is handy to stay up on the news while you work on another monitor, or would also be handy for in-store displays to keep customers and employees up to date on company news. Ticker also offers a handy detail screen which allows users to read a short summary of a news item, useful for deciding whether to view the entire news item on another device such as your Mac or iOS device.

Users can select from one of three background packages, City, Sights, and Patterns. Ticker also offers a number of customization options.

Ticker is available now for the Apple TV, and can be found in the tvOS App Store for $2.99. (Search for “ticker.”)

As a reward for reading all the way to the bottom of this post, Arno has been kind enough to offer MacTrast readers five promo codes to grab a free copy of Ticker. Grab one quickly, because they won’t last long.
