Apple Maps Adds Los Angeles Public Transit Information

Apple has added public transit information for the Los Angeles area to their Apple Maps app in both iOS and OS X. The update brings LA rail line schedules, dynamic advisories, and integration with directions to the app.

Spotted by IT professional Tom Bridge, the Apple Maps update lets iOS and OS X device-toting Angelenos plot out trips with public transportation options, check for delays at nearby metro stations and more. Apple has yet to announce the addition on its Feature Availability or mapping service acknowledgments webpages.

Transit data first became available in Apple Maps alongside the iOS 9 update. The feature offers routing, departure, and other important information for a city’s public transportation network. The feature offers transit information about buses, trains, ferries, subways, and more.

Apple Maps also includes a virtual “top-down” view of underground subway and train stations, realistic road signs, and more, in order to better inform public transit riders.

In addition to Los Angeles, Apple Maps offers Transit Information for the following metropolitan areas:
