CES 2016: Misfit Announces the Stylish ‘Ray’ Fitness and Sleep Monitor

Misfit on Tuesday announced their Ray Fitness and Sleep Monitor. Misfit says the Ray’s distinct deconstructed and modular design makes it their most versatile activity tracker yet.

The Ray measures 12mm in diameter, and 38mm long, and boasts a customizable cylindrical aluminum body, and can be worn on the wrist or as a necklace via Misfit-branded or custom accessories.

The Ray tracks activity and sleep, via a 3-axis accelerometer, and uses a vibration motor for nuanced user feedback. A single multicolored LED “eye” offers inactivity “nudges,” text and call notifications, and silent alarm notifications. The Ray’s user-replaceable battery lasts up to 6 months, and the Ray is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

The Ray — while apparently offering the same features as Misfit’s other activity trackers, the Shine and the Flash — does offer a more attractive alternative for dressier occasions, while also offering the flexibility of wearing the tracker as a bracelet or a necklace. As you can see in the photos, the Ray is much more stylish than either the Shine or the Flash.

“We designed Ray to be your most valuable accessory,” said Tim Golnik, Misfit’s VP of Product and Design. “Ray’s design distills the essential performance of our wearables and opens up a world of style possibilities.”

The Misfit Ray is compatible with the Misfit Link app, which allows users to communicate with friends, turn on lights, control music, take selfies, and more, with just a few taps of the Ray.

The Ray will be available in Rose Gold and Carbon Black, and is available for pre-order on misfit.com. The device will be available at retailers worldwide in Spring 2016.
