Vidyo! for iOS Offers Users Ability to Record iOS Screen Activity Right on the Device (Update – It’s Been Removed)

UPDATE – As expected, Vidyo! has been removed from the App Store. Thanks to @theogsc for letting us know.

A new app from Innovative Developers LTD, “Vidyo!” offers iOS users the ability to capture video of their iOS device right on the device itself. The app captures all screen activity, and then allows users to edit the video, add background music and commentary, and save it to the device’s camera roll.

Vidyo lets you take videos from the camera, record sound from your microphone, or use video or voice already on your device; and then trim, combine/mix and edit these into one final file.

– Capture your device screen no matter which app you are in.
– Capture your device audio (anything that comes out of the speakers) in full original quality.
– Capture from the Microphone, Camera or any other available media input on your device.
– Add background music or commentary to existing videos with full control of mixing volumes.
– Capture new videos and trim them before uploading to online media sites. (on board camera and any other connected and compatible video source)
– Unique new trim control to help you trim audio files with precision.
– Record and manage all your media files from one place.

MacStories notes the app works by simulating an AirPlay connection, but to the app itself. A user toggles Device Screen, exits the app, and selects Vidyo as an AirPlay source in Control Center. The iOS Status bar turns blue as it always does when AirPlay is activated, and Vidyo! begins in the background, recording the video and audio, (if you wish), of the app you’re using in the foreground. When you’re finished, stop AirPlay, and a video recording of your on-screen activities is saved to your device’s Camera Roll.

If this at all sounds like something you’d find useful, you’ll want to immediately go to the App Store and drop $4.99 to grab the app. Since Apple frowns on apps that simulate AirPlay mirroring, the app could be pulled form the store at any time.

Vidyo! is available in the iOS App Store for $4.99. [GET IT HERE]
