Beats 1 Radio to Livestream ‘The 1975’ Concert on Thursday

Apple’s Beats 1 Radio will livestream a concert by British alt-rock band “The 1975” on Thursday. The concert, originating from Los Angeles, is expected to include a number of songs from the bands forthcoming album, I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It. The live stream will begin at 9AM Pacific time this Thursday.

Thursday’s concert will be the first Beats 1-branded event since the radio station debuted alongside Apple Music last year. Beats 1 is now Apple’s sole free-to-listen streaming option, after iTunes Radio was moved into the Apple Music subscription tier back in January.

Apple has been promoting the concert via its official Apple music Snapchat account; and DJ Zane Lowe, Beats 1, and Apple Music have also made mention of the concert via their respective Twitter feeds.

Apple has a history of hosting live music acts. For years, it has hosted a number of big-name music acts at its annual iTunes Festival in London. (Renamed last year to the “Apple Music Festival.”)

The 1975’s release I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It goes on sale Friday, Feb. 26.
