Apple Now Accepting Donations for Red Cross Relief Effort in Alberta Wildfires Area

Apple has begun accepting donations to support the relief efforts of  the Canadian Red Cross, to aid those affected by the wildfires in the Fort McMurray, Alberta area.

Donations to the Canadian Red Cross can be made via iTunes, in the amount of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or $200. iTunes Store credit cannot be used to make a donation and no tax receipt will be provided to donors.

While donations via iTunes will go 100% directly to the Canadian Red Cross, the organization will not be able to further recognize contributions, due to Apple’s privacy policies, which means they do not pass along donor information to the charity.

The Fort McMurray wildfires flamed up on May 1st, and have continued to grow since, reaching over hectares in size, forcing over 80,000 residents to evacuate to nearby cities of Edmonton and Calgary.

Readers who would like to contribute to the Red Cross relief effort are encouraged to visit the iTunes Store to make donations.
