T-Mobile to Offer U.S. Tourists $30 Prepaid Plan Including 2GB of LTE Data

T-Mobile will offer a new $30 prepaid Tourist Plan for international visitors to the United States. The new plan will offer 1,000 minutes of domestic calling, unlimited texting to the U.S. and over 140 other countries and regions, plus 2GB of 4G LTE data, dropping to 2G speeds after that. The new offering kicks off on June 12.

To get connected with the T-Mobile Tourist Plan:

  • Bring an unlocked phone with you to the U.S.
  • Visit a T-Mobile store and ask for the Tourist Plan
  • Sign up, pay, and activate the plan

It’s that simple to enjoy the freedom of wireless—and stay connected to friends and family at home with unlimited international texting to 140+ countries & destinations.

When users sign up and pay for the plan, they’ll receive a free SIM card that will allow access to the carrier’s network. The one-time, one-line plan will last for three weeks, and cannot be renewed when service shuts down on the 21st day of service.

The service will provide a new U.S. phone number to users, as international numbers can’t be ported to the States. While International Calling isn’t included in the plan, nor can it be added, users could make use of Wi-Fi-based calling services to call numbers outside of the U.S.

It should also be noted that while the Tourist Plan includes 200MB of US. data roaming, T-Mobile freebie programs such as Binge On, Music Freedom, and Mobile Without Borders are not included in the plan. The plan does allow tethering, which counts against the 2GB of 4G LTE data included in the plan.
