Apple Launches New iBooks Instagram Account

Apple continues to slowly expand their presence in the social media space, as the Cupertino firm has launched a new iBooks account on photo sharing site Instagram. The new account is being used to share book artwork, quotes, mini-reviews, and more.

Oddly enough, the posts don’t include direct links to the iBookstore in order to purchase the ebooks they are promoting. Instead, the postings consist of book artwork, quotes, and bits of interesting trivia, such as Sunday, July 31st was Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s birthday. It appears the account looks to merely raise awareness about Apple’s ebooks, leaving it up to the reader to search for and purchase the tomes from the iBookstore.

The account was launched over the weekend, and the account is a verified one, confirming it is an authentic Apple-owned account used to promote iBooks awareness. This weekend, the account promoted the much-anticipated eight chapter of the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Cursed Childwhich is now available in the iBookstore.

All of the books promoted on the iBooks Instagram page were released in the last few months, so it is likely that the account will be used to push recently released books, and likely the iBookstore in general.
