Apple Maps Adds Public Transit Info for San Antonio and Dallas-Fort Worth Areas

Apple Maps on Monday added public transit information for two Texas urban centers, San Antonio and the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

While the San Antonio transit information is limited to the city’s VIA bus system, Dallas-Fort Worth riders can find info for light rail, streetcars, and the Skylink “people mover” at DFW International Airport.

The addition of the two cities makes it a grand total of three Texas locales with transit directions available in the Apple Maps app. Previously, Austin was the only Texas city with transit information available in the app.

So far, Apple has concentrated on supplying transit information for cities in the United States and China. Canada has only a few cities with the info, and European coverage is limited to London, (and other U.K. destinations within reach of National Rail), Berlin, and Prague. Other international locations with transit directions available are Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Sydney.
