Automatic Debuts ‘Automatic Pro’ Connected Car Adapter With Free Always-On 3G Connection

Automatic has announced the release of their next-generation connected car adapter, the Automatic Pro. The new “Pro” model offers always on, subscription-free 3G connectivity, where the original model required an iPhone for full functionality.

The Automatic Pro collects data continuously, making it perfect for those who want to monitor the driving habits of their offspring when the parents aren’t around. The Pro offers a 5-years of free 3G connectivity, included in the $129.95 purchase price of the Pro.

Just like the original Automatic adapter, the Pro plugs into the vehicle’s OBD-II port to provide information such as distance traveled, gas used, time in the car, and more. It also advises drivers via notifications how to better optimize their driving habits to save gas, and also offers engine monitoring alerts.

The Automatic Pro can also connect users with emergency services in the event of an accident, help you find your car in a crowded parking lot, and can even let you know when the time limit on a parking spot is about to run out.

The Automatic iPhone app also offers integration with other apps and devices to automate certain tasks:

Connect your car to a world of apps with IFTTT or any of the dozens of integrations available with Automatic. Log your trips to a Google Sheet, automagically turn on your Hue lights, set your Nest thermostat to away when you leave home, and more.

The Automatic Pro is now available for purchase for $129.95, from the Automatic website.
