Two Weeks in, and iOS 10 is on the Majority of iOS Devices with 49% of All Compatible Devices

Two Weeks in, and iOS 10 is on the Majority of iOS Devices with 49% of All Compatible Devices

It has been just a bit over two weeks since iOS 10 was released into the wild, and the new mobile operating system is already on 48.63% of compatible devices, slightly surpassing iOS 9’s adoption rate for the same period a year ago.

Two Weeks in, and iOS 10 is on the Majority of iOS Devices with 49% of All Compatible Devices

Mixpanel’s iOS 10 adoption tracker shows the new mobile OS is now installed on slightly more devices than iOS 9, 48.63% to 47.53%, respectively. 3.84% of devices continue to run iOS 8 or older. (The adoption rates change hourly, these numbers were current at the time of this article.)

iOS 10’s adoption rate has run neck-and-neck with iOS 9’s adoption rate at the same time last year. Apple’s latest and greatest mobile operating system was on 14.5% of compatible devices after just one day, and one week in, it was on 34% of devices. (This was immediately following the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus to the public.)

While it is true, iOS 10 faced some installation issues in its early days, a quick resolution to those issues, along with its numerous new features, such as a revamped iMessages environment that offered a new App Store, and accompanying stickers and apps, led to users eager to try out the new OS.

iOS 10’s adoption rate comes close to being the mobile operating system with the fastest ever adoption rate, but it doesn’t quite make it, as last year Apple reported iOS 9 was on over 50% of active devices, less than two weeks in.
