Apple Seeds Fourth Betas of iOS 10.2 and watchOS 3.1.1 to Developers

Apple on Monday released the fourth betas of iOS 10.2 and watchOS 3.1.1 to registered developers. The releases come two weeks following the release of the third beta seeds.

iOS 10.2 Beta 4

Today’s third iOS 10.2 beta seed – build 14C82 – will soon be available as an over-the-air update to developers who have the beta configuration profile installed on their iOS devices. Or, it can immediately be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center. A public beta will likely be available for public beta testers soon.

What’s New in iOS 10.2:

iOS 10.2 offers over a hundred new emoji, including a a clown face, selfie, face palm, fox face, owl, shark, butterfly, avocado, pancakes, croissant, and more. New emoji include more diverse emoji, including professions emoji for both male and female genders. Apple has also redesigned a number of existing emoji, lending a more realistic look.

New wallpaper has also made the scene, along with new “Send with Celebration,” and “Send with Love” screen effects in Messages.

The TV app is now available to beta users. The app is designed to simplify the television watching experience, offering Single Sign-On support, a TV Widget, TV app settings, and more.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any new features in beta four of iOS 10.2, and will report them in this space.

watchOS 3.1.1 Beta 4

The fourth watchOS 3.1.1 beta – Build 14S879 – can be downloaded through the dedicated Watch app on an iPhone running the iOS 10.2 beta by going to “General” -> “Software Update.” The Apple Watch must have 50% battery life remaining, be placed on an Apple Watch charger, and it must be in range of the iPhone.

As a minor 3.1.x update, the watchOS 3.1.1 beta appears to be made up of under-the-hood bug fixes and performance improvements, with no outward-facing new features discovered in the first three watchOS 3.1.1 betas. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any new features in beta four of watchOS 3.1.1, and will report them in this space.
