Etsy Craft Sales Platform Adds Support for Apple Pay on the Web

Craft sales platform Etsy on Friday added support for Apple Pay on the Web, allowing Mac and iOS users to pay for their purchases in the Safari web browser.

Etsy already supported Apple Pay in their iOS app, but today’s move offers the same Apple Pay convenience to web shoppers who use a Mac or iOS device with Touch ID to shop on the shopping platform that specializes in individuals selling their hand-crafted wares.

To use Apple Pay, Mac users will also require a nearby iPhone or Apple Watch to authenticate their Apple Pay payments. Those expecting to soon have a new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar delivered will be able to use that laptop’s built-in Touch ID sensor to authorize payments, with no need of a secondary device.

Currently, just over 1,000 websites support Apple Pay on the Web, although that number is continuing to grow daily. Web support was just enabled back in September, when iOS 10 and macOS Sierra 10.12 were released.
