User Complaints Spur Apple to Bring Back the ‘Butt Peach’ Emoji in iOS 10.2 Beta

While Apple may be able to get away with removing the headphone jack from their iPhone, and replacing every port on the new MacBook Pro with USB-C ports, it appears removing the “butt peach” from the emojis in iOS 10.2 was a bridge too far. (Look it up, Millennials.)

The iOS 10.2 beta, currently in testing, introduced more realistic artwork for a number of existing emoji. In an effort to give the emoji a more realistic, vivid look almost all of the food emojis in iOS 10.2 received a redesign. This included the peach emoji, which has long been used by many users as a symbol for a “butt” (or, gluteus maximus – Educated Ed.).

The more rounded and, let’s face it, more peach-like peach emoji in 10.2 lost its resemblance to a tuchus, thereby spurring much wailing and gnashing of teeth on the web. This apparently spurred Apple to reconsider, and it has brought back the butt peach in the most recent iOS 10.2 beta, released earlier this week.

What have we learned? While Apple can fool with all of the computer and device ports it wants to, they need to keep their hands off of the butt peach. Which may be good advice for us all…
