Apple AirPods to Hit Retail Store Shelves December 19th

If you missed out on ordering a set of AirPods in time for Christmas delivery, there is still hope. A report from Thursday claims Apple’s much-coveted new wireless earphones will begin hitting Apple retail store and some third-party retailer’s shelves on Monday, December 19.

MacRumors:

Apple will begin selling AirPods in its retail stores starting on Monday, December 19, according to a retail source that shared the news with MacRumors. Apple is currently informing stores about the imminent launch and shipping product to retail locations.

It isn’t known how many AirPods each Apple retail store or third-party seller will receive, but the headphones are likely to be in short supply.

Apple’s AirPods are a premium wireless headphone solution, which are Bluetooth connected, and powered by Apple’s own in-house W1 chip. The earbuds are completely wireless, with no cords connecting them to the device, or to each other.

The much-anticipated in-ear wireless earbuds were delayed by more than a month from their initial shipping date, as production delays pushed the launch back. Reports indicated Apple was having issues getting audio to sync between both wireless earbuds.

The new headphones went on sale via Apple’s online store on Tuesday, with an initial delivery estimate of December 21. An ordering frenzy quickly pushed delivery dates back to the current estimate of six weeks.
