Microsoft Offers Free Outlook for Mac Preview for Testing of Google Calendar & Contacts Features

Wednesday saw Microsoft release a free Outlook for Mac standalone preview version, in an attempt to gain widespread feedback on the app’s Google account-related upgrades, which include Calendar and Contacts integration.

AppleInsider:

The code represents the “earliest Outlook for Mac Preview build,” Microsoft said, and is aimed only at people without an Office 365 subscription. Those who do have a subscription need to join Office Insider Fast to receive the same material.

Insider Fast users have had access to the extended Google support since early in March. Users should keep in mind that builds like these are on the cutting edge of Office app development, and could contain bugs.

The new Outlook features include the ability to sync Google Calendar and Contacts data like everything else already does. The app should also offer a better Google setup experience, plus enhanced Gmail support, which includes Focused Inbox compatibility and automatic detection of travel and package information.

Folks will have until June 30 to try out the Outlook for Mac Preview, as it will expire on that date.
