Apple Releases New 3.7.2 Firmware Update for AirPods

Apple on Wednesday released a new firmware update for its AirPods wireless earbuds. Firmware 3.7.2 is likely a bug fix and performance improvement type of update. Apple didn’t include release notes with the firmware update, so we can’t be for certain what the update addressed.

As noted by MacRumors, AirPod firmware updates are installed automatically when the AirPods are connected to the iPhone. This means users should be seeing the update roll out soon, if they haven’t seen it already.

If you’d like to check to see if your AirPods firmware has been updated to version 3.7.2, go to the Settings app, and Tap “General” -> “About” -> “AirPods,” while the wireless earbuds are connected to your iPhone.

Apple’s wireless earbuds were released in December 2016, and have continued to be in short supply ever since. Shipping time for the popular earphones are still being shown as six weeks in the online Apple Store, and pickup in local Apple Stores is being shown as “July 17” for the stores we spot-checked.
