Rumor: Apple Watch Series 3 to Feature ‘All-New Form Factor’

The Apple Watch Series 3, expected to debut alongside the new iPhones this fall, will have an “all-new form factor,” says Daring Fireball‘s John Gruber.

Gruber shared the information in a comment on a Bloomberg article claiming the new wearable device will boast LTE connectivity to lessen it’s reliance on the iPhone for connectivity.

It’s hard to overstate just how big a deal this could be. No mention in Businessweek’s report, though, of the all-new form factor that I’ve heard is coming for this year’s new watches. That tidbit came from an unconfirmed little birdie, though, so I wouldn’t bet the house on it.

Gruber is careful to point out that the “little birdie” who shared the info with him is an “unconfirmed” one, so things might not pan out that way.

Previous rumors about the third-gen Apple Watch have indicated the new Watch would feature under-the-hood improvements, such as improved battery life. Apple has done a much better job of keeping information about the Apple Watch Series 3 under wraps than they have their upcoming “iPhone 8” handset.
