Matias Announces RGB-Backlit Version of Wired Aluminum Keyboard for Mac

Popular Mac keyboard maker Matias has announced the release of an RGB-Backlit version of its Wired Aluminum Keyboard for Mac. The aluminum keyboard is available in Silver or Space Gray.

“We designed this keyboard for pro users who need backlighting, but also require the rock-solid reliability of a wired keyboard, including a built-in USB port to connect their mouse of choice,” said Edgar Matias, CEO of Matias. “With the iMac Pro now shipping and a next-generation Mac Pro forthcoming, our new wired backlit keyboard is a perfect match.”

Backlight colors can be selected with the turn of a dial. The company cites a Harvard sleep study as to how the keyboard’s backlight can aid in regulating a user’s sleep patterns.

“Colours are selected by simply turning a dial. It goes from White to Yellow, through the spectrum, then back to White. This lets you dial back the Blue component of White light, when you’re working late in the evening. Too much Blue-light exposure at night is known to negatively impact melatonin levels, which can shift your body’s natural time clock — leading to poor sleep and various other health issues. Our RGB backlight was SPECIFICALLY designed to address this problem,” said Matias.

They keyboards, currently on display at CES 2018 this week, can be pre-ordered now, and will be available in a variety of international layouts.

The Matias Wired Aluminum Keyboard with RGB Backlight is available for $99 (US) or 119€ (including VAT) from Matias and authorized resellers / distributors worldwide. The keyboard will be available in models compatible with Mac and PC computers.
