Apple Releases iOS 11.3, But It’s Only for the New Sixth-Gen 9.7-inch iPad

Apple on Wednesday released their iOS 11.3 update, but it is only currently available for users of the 2018 9.7-inch iPad that debuted earlier this week. Shipments of the new device will begin going out at the beginning of April.

If you already have your hot little hands on a new 9.7-inch iPad, the update should be available to you. To update, go to your iPad’s Settings app and tap “General,” “Software Update.”

Apple hasn’t yet announced when the update will become available to users of other compatible iOS devices, such as the iPad Pro, iPhone X, iPhone 8, and other devices.

AppleInsider notes the software build is labeled as 15E216 for 32-gigabyte iPads, and 15E218 for 128-gigabyte models. The current beta is build number 15E5216a – which indicates the release is a “gold-master” version, which is the last step before a public release.

iOS 11.3, which has been in testing for quite a while now, offers new battery management features, Messages storage on iCloud, and support for ARKit 1.5, which is an improved version of Apple’s augmented reality platform.
