How To Prevent Tracking in the macOS High Sierra Safari Browser

Safari for macOS High Sierra users can easily turn off tracking while using the browser. Intelligent Tracking Prevention uses machine learning to prevent tracking in the bowser, even cross-site tracking. Here’s to to turn it on.

How To Prevent Tracking in the macOS High Sierra Safari Browser

1.) While in the Safari browser, go to Preferences. (You can press “CMD+,” or click on the Safari menu, and then click “Preferences” in the menu).

2.) In the Preferences dialog window that pops up, click on the Privacy tab.

3.) At the top of the Privacy dialog box, you’ll see a new Website Tracking section that includes two checkboxes: “Try to prevent cross-site tracking,” and “Ask websites not to track me.” Click those to turn them on. (A check will appear in the checkbox when the feature is enabled.)

While you there, you can also click the “Block all cookie” checkbox to stop tracking via cookies, but that may affect your user experience on various websites, so be advised.

While this isn’t a cure-all for every type of tracking performed by website, this will cut the tracking down by quite a bit, increasing your overall security a bit. And every little bit helps.
