Six Month Free Apple Music Trial Subscription to be Included With Certain CarPlay-Equipped Vehicles

European Volkswagen buyers and Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Jeep buyers in the United States will get a new benefit when they purchases a new vehicle. Apple has teamed up with the automakers to offer a six month free Apple Music trial. A monthly membership to the streaming music service usually costs $9.99 per month.

There is a catch if you’re already an Apple Music subscriber, as new subscribers will get the full six months of free service, while current subscribers will only receive 3 months of free service.

U.S. car buyers will be able to take advantage of the offer when they buy a new Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, and Jeep vehicle that comes with CarPlay as a standard feature. European buyers will benefit when they buy a Volkswagen CarPlay-enabled vehicle.

The Apple Music subscription will auto-renew once the free trial period ends if it hasn’t been cancelled before then. The promotion starts on May 1st and run through April 30, 2019.

The new offer comes on the heels of Apple Music competitor Spotify’s announcement that it would go public. Both services offer listeners the ability to access on-demand, streaming music. Spotify currently boasts 71 million subscribers, while Apple Music has 36 million pairs of ears.
