Just in Time for Summer: First Apple HomeKit Windows Air Conditioner Hits U.S. Market

It took a while, but GE’s HomeKit compatible GE AHP08LX window air conditioner is finally hitting U.S. shelves, just in time for summer.

The unit, rated at 8,000 BTU, is an Energy Star rated window unit that works with Apple’s HomeKit, Google Home products, Amazon’s Alexa, and IFTTT.

As mentioned by AppleInsider, while there are HomeKit compatible window air conditioner units available internationally, the GE AHP08LX is the first window unit in the US to boast such compatibility.

The unit is currently available exclusively at Lowe’s for $319, and boasts the following features:

  • WiFi Connect, control your cool from your smart device for maximum convenience and comfort
  • Delivers 8,000 BTUs to cool medium rooms (250-350-sq ft)
  • ENERGY STAR® certified – efficiency exceeds minimum guidelines to help lower energy costs

It also features “4-way air direction, 3 cooling speeds and 3 fan only speeds for optimal performance.” It also comes with a remote control, which HomeKit users can obviously keep in a drawer.

Users who have a HomeHub setup can setup “scenes” which can include the air conditioner, which can be set to run only when one person arrives or leaves, or when everyone in a group does. other scenes can also be setup for use with the GE AHP08LX window unit.
