Costco warehouses across the United States now accept Apple Pay at all in-store checkouts.
The warehouse store chain has been equipping all 750 of its stores with contactless payments terminals during the past several months, and has now activated all of them. Costco gas stations are also being outfitted with contactless card and device readers, but only a few have gone live.
Costco’s new contactless readers also enable tap-to-pay functionality for Costco Anywhere credit cards, Costco’s Visa-branded car launched a few years back with Citi.
Apple Pay acceptance at Costco is a big step forward for Apple Pay in the U.S. The contactless payments service will also be launching at 7,800 of 9,800 CVS Pharmacy and 8,000 7-Eleven convenience stores later this year.
