Apple Releases iOS 12.1.2 for iPhones – Provides eSIM Bug Fixes

Apple on Monday released iOS 12.1.2, the fourth update to its iOS 12 mobile operating system. The new version comes two weeks after the release of iOS 12.1.1.

The iOS 12.1.2 update is available only on the iPhone over-the-air in the Settings app. To install the update, go to “Settings” -> “General” -> “Software Update” and follow the prompts. The update is free to download. iOS 12.1.1 is the latest available version for iPad and iPod touch devices.

Apple’s release notes state iOS 12.1.1 is a bug fix update, and focuses on eSIM activation issues and an issue that could affect cellular connectivity in Turkey.

iOS 12.1.2 includes bug fixes for your iPhone. This update:

  • Fixes bugs with eSIM activation for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max
  • Addresses an issue that could affect cellular connectivity in Turkey for iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max

eSIM functionality first debuted in iOS 12.1 and expanded with iOS 12.1.1. T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T are all now supporting the eSIM feature in the U.S. A number of other carriers around the world are also supporting the feature.
