How To Force Close a Frozen App on Your Apple Watch

While it doesn’t happen very often, Apple Watch apps can freeze up. (Hey, it happens on any electronic device or platform.) Luckily, it takes just a few steps to close the frozen app and restart it. Here’s how.

How To Force Close a Frozen App on Your Apple Watch

Here’s what to do if an app freezes up, not responding to any gestures, or if it simply begins behaving.

  1. Press and hold the Side Button on the Apple Watch. (It’s the button next to the Digital Crown.)
  2. When you see the “Power Off” slider appear, release the Side Button.
  3. Press and hold the Digital Crown until you see the app close.
  4. You’ll be brought back to the Main App Screen, where you can re-open the app with a tap of the finger.
