Vizio Says AirPlay 2 and HomeKit Support Will be Extended to Their 2016 4K UHD SmartCast Displays

Vizio has announced that they will include all of their 2016 4K UHD SmartCast Displays in the list of models that will be updated with Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit functionality. The announcement came as a reply from Vizio’s Support Twitter account to a question from a Vizio owner.

Apple last week shared a list of AirPlay 2-enabled television sets on their HomeKit website. However, only sets from 2017 through 2019 were listed. Vizio sets included:

  • Vizio P-Series Quantum (2019 and 2018)
  • Vizio P-Series (2019, 2018 and 2017)
  • Vizio M-Series (2019, 2018 and 2017)
  • Vizio E-Series (2019, 2018 and 2017)
  • Vizio D-series (2019, 2018 and 2017)

So far, Vizio is the only television manufacturer thats is offering AirPlay 2 capabilities on their older television sets. LG, Samsung, and Sony are limiting support for the feature to their 2018 and 2019 models.
