Sketchy Rumor Claims March Apple Event to Kickoff Pre-Orders of AirPower, AirPods 2, New Low-Cost iPad & ‘iPad mini 5’

A sketchy new rumor claims Apple is planning an event to be held in the second half of March where the Cupertino firm will debut their second-generation AirPods, the AirPower charging mat, a new low-cost iPad model, and the “iPad mini 5.”

MacRumors:

The claim comes courtesy of Greek tech news site iphonehellas.gr [Google Translate], which says it has received “exclusive information” from “a reliable source through Apple’s production chain in China” that pre-orders for the AirPods 2, AirPower, and new iPads will start on Friday, March 22 with shipping and in-store sales to begin a week later on Friday, 29 March.

The author of the iPhoneHellas rumor also says (via Slashleaks) the Apple event will take place in the March 11 to March 20 timeframe.

Apple has been known to hold special events during March. The last such event took place on March 29, 2018, when it announced a low-cost iPad with Apple Pencil support.

iPhoneHellas has been around for awhile, and has been accurate in the past with iOS rumors. However, as with any rumors of this type, we suggest taking it with a grain of your favorite salt-free seasoning.

Numerous rumors have circulated over the last year or so concerning second-generation AirPods, the AirPower wireless charging mat, and new iPad and iPad mini models.
