Vizio Launches Beta Test of AirPlay 2 and HomeKit Functionality on SmartCast-Capable Sets

Vizio announced earlier this year that it would be bringing AirPlay 2 and HomeKit integrations to multiple model years of its SmartCast-capable TVs. The company is now emailing beta applicants that the first beta of the feature is being launched.

Vizio earlier this week updated its SmartCast iOS app to add AirPlay 2 beta support, and today is the day a select number of Vizio owners can give begin testing the new feature in a beta capacity.

AirPlay 2 integration allows Mac and iOS device users to stream video and music content, photos, and more to their AirPlay 2-enabled smart TVs, and of course the Apple TV. HomeKit integration allows users to use the iOS Home app or Siri Voice commands to control the TV.

Although beta signup opened back in January, Vizio is still accepting beta sign-ups on their Apple webpage.

AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support will be open to the public and their Vizio televisions sometime in the summer.
