AirPort Base Station Firmware Update 7.8.1 Now Available

Apple on Thursday released a new AirPort Base Station Firmware Update (7.8.1) for the Airport Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time Capsule.

Apple says firmware update 7.8.1 improves the security of your base station and is recommended for all Apple 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations including AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule.

Apple discontinued its entire AirPort wireless router lineup back in April 2018 and is no longer offers these or any other Apple-branded routers for sale. Apple has promised to continue offering service and parts for the AirPort lineup for the next five years, which includes firmware updates to address security issues.
