Apple Teases 2019 Store Openings in Japan

Apple continues to build out its retail presence in Japan, as it has posted a pair of images to its Japanese website teasing its plans to open two new Apple Store locations in the country later this year.

The company recently updated its Japanese retail homepage to feature cycling graphics promoting its renovations at the Apple Omotesando store and two other logos that are believed to tease the company’s plans to open two new locations sometime later this year.

Apple has in the past used artistic versions of its trademark logo to promote its retail stores in both Japan and China. The company has in the past used the logos to promote store openings and renovations in both countries.

Neither of the two logos include text indicating the exact location of the new stores. One version of the logo shows it being made up of four lines using colors from Apple’s classic rainbow branding. Meanwhile, the other shows what appears to be an orange sun reflecting off an Apple logo made up of thin slats. Both logos include text that translates to “planned for 2019.”

Apple is quickly building out its retail presence in Japan as a part of a five-year plan to invest in the market with new stores and renovations of existing retail sites. The company currently has eight retail locations in the country.
