Twitter App Returns to the Mac via Mac Catalyst

Apple announced macOS Catalina at its Worldwide Developers Conference earlier this year. Also unveiled was Mac Catalyst, a new feature that would allow iPad apps to be easily ported over to the Mac. During the presentation, it was revealed Twitter would be one of the apps to be ported.

macOS Catalina was released to the public on Monday, and the Twitter for Mac app is now available. You’ll need to have macOS Catalina installed on your Mac to download and install the new Twitter app, as it makes use of Catalina technologies.

Mac users were disappointed to learn the Twitter for Mac app would cease being updated back in February 2018. The company said it was discontinuing the app in order to focus its attention on a “great Twitter experience that’s consistent across all platforms.”

Apple’s Catalyst initiative allows apps designed to work on the iPad platform to be easily ported to the Mac, Twitter made use of the new technology to port its iPad app over, so the new macOS app shares similarities with the iPad app.

Twitter for Mac is free, and can be downloaded from the Mac App Store. [GET IT HERE]
