Apple on Monday sent out invites for an unexpected media event that’s scheduled to take place in New York City on Monday, December 2, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
The media invitations say Apple will be honoring its “favorite apps and games of 2019.” We currently have no idea as to what exactly that means, and what games and apps may be highlighted at the event. Apple hasn’t held a similar event in the past, so it’s hard to guess what to expect.
Apple does annually share its favorite apps and games via a press release each year during the first week of December, so it looks as if Apple will be throwing a full-blown event complete with award ceremony this year in place of the usual press release.
The best of the year announcements usually include offerings such as apps, games, music, movie, podcasts, TV shows, and more.
The wording of the media invites don’t indicate that there will be any new hardware unveiled at the event, although, we do expect to see Apple release the Mac Pro and Pro Display XDR sometime in December.
